Dr Shah is currently a Member of FDI Public Health Committee.
Dr Mahmood Shah graduated as Dentist in 1983 from University of Sindh, Pakistan. He has obtained Postgraduate Qualifications in Dental Public Health from Trinity College University of Dublin, Ireland. He has obtained Postgraduate Qualifications in Orthodontics from UCLA, USA and passed Membership Exam in Orthodontics from College of Physicians and Surgeons, Pakistan.
He is Head of Orthodontics Mohammad Dental College, Mirpurkhas Pakistan. He is the Owner/CEO of MS Medical Center, Karachi, Pakistan.
Dr Mahmood Shah has remained Office Bearer of Pakistan Dental Association since the last 20 Years. In the Asia-Pacific Region he has remained Office Bearer of Asia-Pacific Dental Federation/ Asia-Pacific Regional
Organization of FDI since the last 18 Years. He has remained as Vice-President, Chairman of General Dental Practice, Chairman of Oral Diseases Commission, President-Elect and was President of APDF/APRO (2022-2023).
Afghan Refugees Project
Project Aim :
Improving access and delivery of Oral Health care services for Afghan Refugees in Pakistan through free of charge Dental Screening and Dental treatment of Afghan Refugees – funded by FDI.
Project scope:
Mainly targeted towards children, females and elderly. But no patient is declined
treatment/ Oral hygiene awareness/ Providing dental treatment.
Project Goals:
Oral health awareness in the Afghan Refugees Settlement areas in Pakistan. Provision of dental treatments (except orthodontics and prosthodontics treatment) for needy Afghan Refugees.
Learning objectives
- Providing knowledge about treatment of Afghan refugees in their settlement areas in Pakistan.
- Educating about the risks and dangers encountered while visiting these lawless settlement areas
- Explaining the involvement of Afghan Elders in the project which has made this project highly successful.
