Professor and Director of the Clinic for Conservative Dentistry and Periodontology at the Ludwig Maximilian University Hospital in Munich, Germany's largest dental clinic. Prof. Schwendicke's research interests are in the areas of restorative and preventive dentistry, diagnostics and artificial intelligence, health economics and public health. He has authored over 500 articles, 250 abstracts, and 30 book chapters and has been invited to give over 300 lectures, including the Buonocore Memorial Lecture. Prof. Schwendicke has received a number of prestigious awards and is a reviewer for over 40 journals. He is Associate Editor of the Journal of Dental Research and chairs working groups at the World Health Organization (WHO), the World Dental Organization (FDI), and the International Standards Organization (ISO). Prof. Schwendicke holds honorary professorships at the Universities of Aarhus (Denmark) and Chennai (India) and is one of the most cited researchers in the world in dentistry.
