She is a professor of periodontology at Yeditepe University Faculty of Dentistry as the Dean of the Faculty, head of the department, and the director of the European Federation of Periodontology (EFP)-accredited postgraduate Program delivering advanced postgraduate education in the fields of periodontology and implant dentistry. She is the member of both Turkish MoH Medical Expertise Board and EFP Education and Accreditation Committee. She is the director of Predoctoral Undergraduate Program of Yeditepe Faculty of Dentistry accredited by American Dental Association, Commission on Dental Accreditation.

She maintains researches with significant contributions to scientific literature on periodontology and implant dentistry with an emphasis on disease prevention, microbiology, probiotics, dental lasers, adjunctive non-surgical approaches as well as regeneration/bioengineering of lost periodontal/peri-implant tissues and mucogingival surgical treatments.
She has been working for years in EFP and with leading national and international colleagues in projects to provide periodontal/peri-implant care and dental-implant treatments as well as guidelines on educational principles and quality.
