Assoc. Prof. Ali Cekici was born in Istanbul in 1977. He graduated from Istanbul University School of Dentistry in 2000. He received his PhD degree from Istanbul University School of Dentistry, Department of Periodontology in 2007. He started working in the same department as a postdoctoral research fellow in 2007. He completed his two-year post-doctoral research at The Forsyth Institute in Boston, USA in 2012. He got his tenure in 2014 and is still working as an Associate Professor at Istanbul University School of Dentistry Department of Periodontology.

He has been a board member of the Turkish Society of Periodontology since 2014, where he still serves as the general secretary. He has taken the role as the Ambassador for the EuroPerio 9 and 10. He also serves as the EFP delegate of Turkish Society of Periodontology, and as a member of the Scientific Affairs Committee of The EFP.

Non-surgical Periodontal Therapy

The aim of this hands-on course is to learn about innovations in tooth and root surface cleaning, which form the basis of non-surgical periodontal treatment, by applications on dental models. The training will cover topics such as; the etiology of periodontal diseases, systematic periodontal treatment approach, use hand instruments, and ultrasonic devices, tip options, and supportive periodontal care process.

  • To be able to select the appropriate periodontal hand instrument for the working area.
  • To be able to achieve the correct hand/finger grip on periodontal instruments.
  • To be able to use the correct hand/finger support according to the working area.
  • To be able to select the appropriate ultrasonic instrument tip.
