DENTAL TOMOGRAPHY AS A GUIDE IN SURGICAL APPLICATIONS

Cone beam computed tomography is a method that complements panoramic and conventional radiographic applications and provides more diagnostic information in cases where they are inadequate. It has expanded the boundaries of oral, dental and jaw radiology as it provides millimetric level examination in the dentomaxillofacial region and neck and provides high diagnostic quality information.

These devices have a wide place in diagnosis and treatment applications in all areas of dentistry. In particular, it is used in the diagnosis of pathologies, determination of their boundaries and even contents, examination of supernumerary teeth, TMJ and maxillary sinuses, presence and differential diagnosis of salivary stones and other calcifications seen in the maxillofacial region, dentoalveolar and maxillofacial traumas, implant applications, orthognathic surgery planning, the examination of dentoalveolar and nasal deformities in children with cleft lip and palate and in all kinds of craniofacial surgery applications. In my presentation, I will share with my colleagues my evaluations on cases of common surgical practices.
